"I’ve been doing various types of yoga and attending seminars, classes and workshops for years. Marvin’s Yin / Restorative session was one of the best I’ve been to. It was professionally run and Marvin was approachable and committed to making sure each of the attendees received the maximum benefit. I wholeheartedly recommend him as a yoga instructor"
Before I started working with Marvin, I was experiencing a high level of work related stress and wanted to find a yoga class that would incorporate some dynamic work and also restorative postures to help me chill out. I felt that I needed to try Mavin’s yoga classes because I do a lot of exercise but never properly stretch afterwards.
Working with Marvin has been incredible. Every week was different which I loved. Marvin would ask everyone how they were feeling before the class started and if they would like a relaxing yoga session or a more intense yoga session and then he delivered the class accordingly. After every class, I felt really stretched – but also so relaxed. I never slept as well as I did after one of Marvin’s classes! Marvin also does a little chanting at the end of some of the sessions which I was apprehensive about at first – but found that I loved this and it was a great way to end the session - and as everyone is doing it, you can totally lose your inhibitions!
The best results I’ve got from working with Marvin has been that I now listen to my body. I am always rushing around and thinking that I am invincible but Marvin taught me to be nice to my body – because it’s the only one we’ve got!
Before I started yoga with Marvin I was recovering from 8months off due to disc injury for a second time after a three year period injury free. My reservations were that I wouldn't be able to keep up as my general flexibility was at negative 10 and counting and would I be accommodated as I'd always felt like the worst student in the previous yoga classes I had attended elsewhere, especially when everyone else seems to be able to do all the poses and then there would be me just lying on the floor ( haha). Working with Marvin has been a revelation as he was very welcoming to me. With his background in occupational therapy he understood immediately my issues and was quite thorough in getting that information even speaking to my osteopath so that he could tailor his class to me where some poses might be difficult for me to do. Marvin is always willing to explain any of the poses as well provide a supportive and relaxed atmosphere which help make the classes that more enjoyable as well as a highlight of my week. Marvin is also not afraid to laugh and get things confused (usually left and right haha) which is always a source of amusement. I found that working with Marvin has led to a lot of changes, both bodily and mentality as I am slowly getting to understand how to look after my body better and I'm slowly getting stronger and more flexible while the meditation and restorative part of his yoga has helped me and my wife (who is a big fan ) shake off the stresses of the daily grind and focus on just being present in the moment more.

"3 kids and a career in medicine often results in a slightly crazy life, and a deep need for some inner space and peace. Marvin’s restorative yoga this morning found that space and even started correcting some of the physical pains too. The session was beautifully run, and Marvin’s attention to each person in the room gave everyone a chance to experience yoga on their own terms. I was really impressed by his professionalism, and am already looking forward to the next one"
"I came to the workshop to feel centred in a time of change and turmoil for me and the world. To be able to offer what I learn on the mat to others. The workshop was warm, well planned, humorous and human. It has given me a readiness to take what the world throws at me and face it with dignity, peace and love. I am hooked and will be attending many more of his workshops in the future!"

"I recently attended one of Marvin’s restorative Yoga workshops and thoroughly enjoyed it. I suffer with chronic lower back stiffness which is related to my work as a Jiu Jitsu instructor but after 2 and half hours work with Marvin I am moving more freely and with less stiffness and pain than I have for many months. His session was meticulously planned and he is a consummate professional. I am hooked and will be attending many more of his workshops in the future! I really cant recommend him highly enough"
Before working with Marvin, I was recovering from an operation for a prolapsed disc in my lower back and slowly starting to build strength and flexibility. I was nervously trying to balance my desire to play more sport and my fear of another problem with my back. Yoga seemed a perfect next step. I was very nervous that Marvin would be like the Yoga ‘Ninjas’ I have tried to work with in the past. Overcrowded rooms, impossible poses, and damaging technique that I fumbled to understand. It’s been very refreshing to find a yoga teacher that makes it central that I understand my body. Who explains what we are doing, why we are doing it and how we can adapt a pose to reduce the risk of injury. I realise I cannot jump to having a more flexible body overnight, but with Marvin’s lead I feel the journey could be possible. Now, I have a much better understanding that yoga is not just about body, but equally about mind. I love the restorative yoga! - Kamal
Marvin’s classes are well structured, allowing time to quieten the mind and body when first on our mat, working with awareness and care during our asanas, with clear instructions on how to perform the asanas in a safe manner. Marvin has an excellent knowledge of anatomy and brings this in to his teaching giving informed guidance for people with injuries or restrictions in their movements – Deborah
Before we started coming to class, I was still training as a yoga teacher! I had a slight reservation in that you had not been qualified years like many other teachers I had been lucky to have been taught by and this was only a reservation as you know what it’s like the wiser the better right ?! Any reservations quickly disappeared after 2 classes I always feel like I have had my yoga zone holiday after every class with you and feel reset I also love the emails your passion for yoga and life comes over in every communication. I was dabbling with meditation but have by using Headspace and encouragement from you in class now have a daily meditation practise and miss it if I don’t do it never down to lack of time it’s down to choice. I have been attending Marvellous Marvin’s class on a Monday night at Heart for some time now and cannot speak highly enough about the experience . Marvin has a talent of ensuring everyone is very well cared for in the class and his anatomy knowledge is useful (as a teacher myself – I find it a useful reminder). Marvin also often weaves in some yoga philosophy into the class which I love. It is a real ritual for me every Monday – what better way to start the week off? I know where I will be every Monday night! Thank you Marvin – Caroline

“I really enjoy Marvin’s classes. He lets it be simple and yet it becomes fundamental” – Rob
Marvin is a really good yoga teacher, thorough and passionate. He explains every yoga position in detail to ensure students do the positions correctly and with impact. At his classes, I always feel that even a small movement and every position helps me stretch deeply. His classes are very relaxing, I feel filled with calmness at the end of each - Veronica
Marvin has a very gentle, relaxed, kind, and supportive approach to yoga, and the minds and bodies of those he teaches. He is very knowledgeable about the practical impacts on our bodies of postures and the importance of not pushing our bodies beyond what feels right for each of us as individuals. He also provides clear guidance (and often very interesting readings/quotes) about the importance of quieting the mind, the body/mind balance and focussing on breathing. His classes/workshops are incredibly nourishing and it is easy to tell how passionate he is, and how much effort and preparation he puts into teaching – Gemma
Marvin teaches a strong and slow practice, which is both relaxing, invigorating and pays excellent attention to alignment – a fundamental of good yoga. His approach to his students is gentle and encouraging. His lessons are a great mix of movement, perspective-finding and zen. Thanks Marvin – Rachel
I had been looking for a more meditative and relaxing form of yoga, which was accessible to a beginner and combined the strengthening and stretching exercises with a sense of calm and re-centering to help deal with the stresses of day to day life. As I was new to yoga and not at all flexible I was worried I wasn’t going to be able to either keep up with the class, or not be able to do some of the poses. Both concerns were totally unfounded, as Marvin’s pace is perfect and he helps everyone get the pose that is correct for them. It has been wonderful! Its the perfect balance of mediation and relaxation with core strengthening and flexibility exercise. Its difficult to pick just one best result, but if I had to choose one it is that I have taken the sense of calm from yoga into my day to day life, which has helped me feel stronger and more open to new opportunities – Ellen
I had only tried yoga a few times before but had never made going to classes a regular thing. I did not know what to expect but you were recommended by a friend and I have enjoyed all your classes so kept coming. I have really enjoyed your classes and feel that my yoga has improved since working with you. I would like to continue so I can improve further. I always feel very relaxed after your classes. It’s a couple hours away from real life. I also feel that I am more aware of my body and feel a bit more energetic and even a little stronger than before I started. We have not done much meditation yet but even the small bits that we have done make me reflect more – Christina

Restorative Yoga with Marvin was pure heaven. A relaxed atmosphere combined with his calm, soothing voice leading us through each of the supported poses using bolsters, blocks and blankets. A 75 minute break from the speed and madness of society. I highly recommend it – Emma (Physiotherapist)

Keep up the good work – I am indebted to you / your teaching - Helen
I came to yoga to relieve muscular and mental tension, and to help release stagnant emotional energy. I’m not a morning person and also as an insulin dependent type 1 diabetic I was concerned about my blood glucose levels dropping too low over the duration of the workshop. After spending the last two weeks on DIY missions I’ve found workshops highly beneficial. I’m thrilled to say that I now have less tension in my hips and thoracic spine – Daphne
